Charlotte golf will head back out on the course this weekend at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate, hosted by UNC Chapel Hill this weekend. The field of 14 teams includes five from the Atlantic Coast Conference (Boston College, Duke, N.C. State, Maryland and Chapel Hill, as well as future member Notre Dame) and other in-state schools East Carolina, Gardner-Webb, UNC Greensboro and UNC Wilmington. The field also includesincluding new Atlantic 10 member VCU, in addition to Furman and East Tennessee State.

The teams will play 36 holes on Saturday to open the day, starting at 7:40 a.m. on holes one and 10, with an 18-hole tournament finale on Sunday, also starting at 7:40 a.m. on holes one and 10. The field will be playing the UNC Finley Golf COurse, a Par-72, 7,242 course on campus.

Charlotte has been paired with VCU and UNC Wilmington, with Charlotte freshman Daniel Brantley (Asheboro, N.C.)  going off first on hole 10 at 7:40 a.m. in his first collegiate action. Junior Franco Castro (Alpharetta, Ga.) goes off next at 7:49 a.m. Castro put up a pair of six-over 78 rounds last weekend at the Gopher Invitational, tied for the third-lowest 18-hole score of the weekend by the Niners in Minnesota. Sophomore Raoul Menard (Ange-Gardier, Quesbec City, Canada) tees off third at 7:58 a.m., while junior Joe Toland (White River Junction, Vt. / Hartford HS) goes out fourth for the 49ers, at 8:07 a.m. Toland and Menard were one shot from one another for the weekend, playing consistent golf for the 49ers. Dan Hendry (Dubai, United Arab Emirates) goes out last for Charlotte, at 8:16 a.m. His +14 total score was the lowest for the Niners in the opening weekend.
