Charlotte, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers won four singles matches and four doubles matches on the first day of the 49ers Invitational at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex.

In Flight One Singles, Charlotte's Jack Williams defeated College of Charleston's Brice Allanic, 6-2, 4-6, 7-5.

In Flight Two Singles, Charlotte's Kamil Khalil defeated College of Charleston's Sebastian Lopez, 6-2, 6-2.

In Flight Three Singles, Charlotte's Forrest Edwards lost to College of Charleston's Crescente Lesser, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.

In Flight Four Singles, Charlotte's Paul Cisti lost to College of Charleston's Charlie Ghriskey, 6-4, 7-5.

In Flight Five Singles, Charlotte's Jordi Massalle Ferrer defeated College of Charleston Billy Kenny, 6-4, 7-6 (1).

In Flight Six Singles, Charlotte's Alex Calott defeated College of Charleston's Alon Faiman, 6-7(6), 6-4, 6-3.

In Flight Seven Singles, Charlotte's Nate Shanok lost to College of Charleston's Zack Lewis, 6-3, 7-5. In other Flight Seven Singles action, Charlotte's  Krzysztof Kwasniewicz lost to Gardner-Webb's Stephen Martin, 1-6, 7-6(3), 7-6(1).

In Flight Eight Singles, Charlotte's Alex Weber lost to College of Charleston's Josh Record, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4

In Flight One Doubles action, Charlotte's Williams/Edwards defeated College of Charleston's Allanic/Lopez, 8-4.

In Flight Two Doubles, Charlotte's Khalil/Kwasniewicz defeated College of Charleston's Ghriskey/Kenny, 8-2.

In Flight Three Doubles, Charlotte's Calott/Cisti defeated College of Charleston's Faiman/Record, 8-2.

In Flight Four Doubles, Charlotte's Weber/Massalle Ferrer defeated College of Charleston's Lesser/Lewis, 9-8 (4). In other Flight Four Doubles action, Charlotte's Hector Linares teamed with Winthrop's J.D. O'Brien but they lost to Gardner-Webb's Martin/Walker, 8-2.

Day Two of the 49ers Invitational resumes tomorrow, Saturday, September 15 when the 49ers face Winthrop with singles play beginning at 9 am.
