Charlotte, NC - Junior defender Thomas Allen was named to Soccer America's National Team of the Week for his performance last week. The 49ers have now had a player named to Soccer America's Team of the Week in consecutive weeks after Aidan Kirkbride claimed the honor last week.

Allen scored the game-winning goal in the 49ers 1-0 double-overtime victory over #14 Coastal Carolina, August 27. Then, he also played a major role in limiting Coastal Carolina's All-American forward Ashton Bennett to only one shot.

Allen also helped the 49ers limit #17 UAB to only one goal in 110 minutes play, August 31.

Allen has helped anchor a 49ers defense which has only allowed two goals and 20 shots in over 314 minutes of action this season.

Allen and the rest of the 49ers nationally-ranked men's soccer team hit the road for the first time this season as Charlotte plays in the UK Invitational in Lexington, Kentucky this weekend, September 7-9. First, the 49ers play Stony Brook, Friday, September 7 at 4:30 pm. Then, the 49ers conclude the weekend when they play future Conference USA foe Kentucky, Sunday, September 9 at 2:30 pm.
