At Charlotte: 2015 - Played an integral role in helping the 49ers finish second in the Conference USA Regular Season standings and earn an NCAA tournament bid. Scored a goal, took two shots, and assisted on another goal in the 49ers 4-0 victory over Gardner Webb (September 7). Recorded an assist in a 3-2 win over Winthrop (September 11). Named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Week (September 14). Appeared in nine games and registered nine starts before suffering a season-ending injury. 2014- Played in two games before suffering a season ending injury. Scored a goal in the 3-1 victory over William & Mary (September 30). 2013 - Played an integral role in helping the 49ers capture the Conference USA Tournament title and earn a national seed in the NCAA Tournament. Fouled in the box giving the 49ers a penalty kick which Tyler Gibson converted in the 49ers 1-0 win over Tulsa in C-USA Tournament Championship game. Saw action in 18 games with 12 starts. Finished second on the team with five assists. Scored a goal and assisted on another goal in the 49ers win at Florida Atlantic (October 30). Assisted on the game-winning goal in the 49ers win at Coastal Carolina (September 6). Recorded two assists in the 49ers win over Campbell (September 21). Recorded an assist in the 49ers win over Marshall (November 2). 2012 - Saw action in 15 games with three starts (UCF, Butler and George Washington). Helped the 49ers defense record seven shutouts and limit 12 foes to a goal or less in the 15 games he saw action.
At Akron: Transferred from the University of Akron after seeing action in seven games with four starts as a freshman in 2011.
At Cansfield: Played for Wigan Youth Academy in England. He also played for his county soccer team and was the team captain at Cansfield High School. Was the North of England 100-meter champion when he was 13 years old. Was also the 200-meter and triple jump silver medalist that year. Comes from a highly athletic lineage as his father played professional soccer in England and is a UEFA A license coach, mother played soccer for England and competed in many tournaments as well as winning world championships for England and Mayer's aunt played for Wales.
