Stephen Doughton is in his third season as Associate Director of Basketball Operations. He joined the 49ers coaching staff after spending four years (2008-12) as a team manager for the Charlotte 49ers men’s basketball program.

In his first two seasons on the staff, the 49ers captured the Great Alaska Shootout and Puerto Rico Tip-Off titles and earned a bid to the 2013 NIT. The 49ers defeated #10 Butler on the road as well in 2013. The 49ers have won 38 games, including a 21 wins season in 2013 which marked the program’s first 20 wins season since 2007-08, and with another winning season in 2014, the 49ers posted back-to-back winning campaigns for the first time since 2007.

His primary responsibilities as associate director of basketball operations are coordinating team travel, managing the team budget, organizing recruiting visits, overseeing the recruiting database and compliance paperwork, assists with the organization of the basketball team's former player and manager reunion and assists with Alan Major camps.

In 2008, Doughton founded the Stephen Doughton Jr. Foundation for Cancer Research. The Foundation has raised over $95,000 for Cancer Research since its inception.

Doughton is engaged to former Charlotte 49er volleyball player Kara Raker.
