Senior forward Amanda Dowe recently sat down with the Charlotte 49ers athletic media relations office and talked about her summer and the upcoming season. Last season, Dowe finished tied for first in the Atlantic 10 in rebounding after averaging 9.3 boards per game. She recorded 13 double-figure rebounds game last season including a career-high 19 rebounds against Wake Forest in the WNIT.

How is your summer going? It is going great. I'm ready to get the season started.

What are you doing this summer? First session of summer school we did distance stuff. Now we are working on court runs to get faster.

What classes are you taking right now? I am taking intro to computer concepts. It is an online course.

Did you take a class the first session of summer school? I took Virginity, Power and Pleasure Class.

What is your major? Sociology.

Now that you are a senior, you will have to step up into a leadership role. What are you doing this summer to work on that? I am working on my vocal skills, trying to talk, be more of a leader and lead by example.

The team for the most part is all here this summer. How is the bonding experience going this summer? It's going good. The freshmen are coming along really well.  When I came in I was a little behind but they are fitting in just fine. I feel like we should have a very successful season.

What are the team's expectations for the season? A-10 Champions! Go to the NCAA Tournament.

What do you need to do to help the team reach those goals? Continue to rebound, stay positive, score more, and help my teammates.

What are you doing the rest of the summer? Keep putting up some shots, hang out with my teammates and wait for the season to start.

Who has been your biggest influence? My mother.  She was a single parent, so she was all that I  had to rely on, so I looked up to her. My mother is my role model.

Now that you are a senior, what are your plans after college? To continue to play overseas or possibly in the WNBA. It is a goal of mine that I am trying to achieve.
