Halton Arena -- The Charlotte 49ers 2012-13 Men's Basketball Schedule took shape when the Atlantic 10 announced the home and away matchups for the upcoming season.
With Butler and VCU pushing the league's membership to 16 schools, this year, the league's 16-game schedule includes single-game match-ups with seven opponents at home, seven on the road, and one home-away series.
Charlotte will partner with Temple for the home-away series and play home games against Dayton, Fordham, La Salle, Massachusetts, Saint Joseph's, Xavier and VCU. The 49ers will play road games at Butler, Duquesne, George Washington, Rhode Island, Richmond, Saint Bonaventure and Saint Louis.
Dates for the games are expected to be released in late August. The 49ers non-conference schedule, which includes an appearance in the Great Alaska Shootout, will be released when it is finalized.
Head coach Alan Major will enter his third season with the 49ers. Charlotte will be led by senior center Chris Braswell, a 2012 all-Atlantic 10 choice who averaged 15.8 points and 7.6 rebounds, junior wing DeMario Mayfield, who averaged 11.2 points and 7.0 rebounds and sophomore point guard Pierria Henry, a member of the 2012 A-10 all-Freshman team. Charlotte will welcome a class of six newcomers to join its nine returnees.
