The 4x100 was the only Charlotte event to reach the NCAA Finals, running the eighth-fastest time in school history to qualify. Of the seventeen 49ers that competed at the East Prelim, four others reached the quarterfinals of their respective events, including juniors Isaac McReynolds and Cordell Livingston, freshman LeAnna Morrison and sophomore Joann Blakney. Two school records were broken in the process.
McReynolds clocked 13.93 in the first round of the 110m hurdles, breaking his own school record to qualify for the quarterfinal round. He ended his run with an 18th place finish in the quarterfinal (14.04). Livingston was the other record-breaker, resetting his own mark in the 400m hurdles with a time of 51.31 in the quarterfinal, a PR of over half a second. He finished 15th overall, just missing the finals.
Morrison ran a 59.36 in the quarterfinal of her 400m hurdles event, finishing 19th overall to end her run. Blakney crossed the line in 11.60 in the second round of the 100m dash, placing 20th overall.
Rookie Trey McRae had another noteworthy performance for the 49ers, clearing a height of 7'1 in the high jump. That mark was the second-best jump in school history, and a PR of 2.25".
Other participants included senior Jake Wainwright (23'7.25; long jump); sophomore Katrina Wright (134'6; discus); senior Jason Roberts (189'10; hammer); freshman Khyran Shank (21.30; 200m); sophomore Maraya Slatter (2:11.20; 800m); and the women's 4x400m relay (3:46.23).
