JACKSONVILLE, Fl. - After day one of the NCAA East Prelim in Jacksonville, Fl., three Charlotte tracksters have qualified for the quarterfinal round in their respective events. Cordell Livingston, LeAnna Morrison, and Joann Blakney all finished well enough Thursday to advance to the next round of competition. Several other 49ers still have yet to compete, with events continuing into Friday and Saturday.

Livingston broke his own school record in the 400m hurdles Thursday, clocking 51.75 to finish third in his heat and 16th overall. A junior transfer from Western Carolina University, Livingston bested his previous mark of 51.88 by .07 seconds to advance to the next round.

Freshman Morrison finished third in her heat and 17th overall in the women's 400m hurdles with a time of 59.36, just shy of her own school record. Sophomore Blakney ran a qualifying time of 11.72 in the 100m dash to move on as well.

Non-qualifying 49ers from Thursday's action included junior Kerrick Williams, who placed 39th in the men's discus with a mark of 156'5. In addition, senior Amanda Goetschius, a former All-American and school record holder in the 10,000m, ran a time of 36:59.87 in her event, finishing 34th overall. Rookie T'Sheila Mungo clocked 54.37 in the women's 400m dash, placing sixth in her heat and 36th overall, missing the qualifying mark.
