NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Three student-athletes from the Charlotte 49ers men's track and field team have been named to the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track & Field Academic All-Conference team, the conference announced Thursday. Seniors Jason Roberts and Macey Ruble and sophomore Coye Still are three of ten male athletes honored by the league.

Roberts, a senior from Jamestown, N.C., is a six-time all-conference thrower for the 49ers. He ranks in the top-five in school history in five different events, including second all-time in the outdoor hammer and indoor weight throw. The Southwest Guilford High School graduate was the Atlantic 10's 2009 Outdoor Field Performer of the Year. Also that year, he was named to the Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar List Second Team.

Most recently, Roberts was runner-up in the shot put and hammer and third in the discus at the 2012 A10 outdoor meet, helping the 49ers men with their fifth conference championship since joining the Atlantic 10 in 2006. During the indoor season, he was also runner-up in the shot put, leading the Niners to a second place team finish.

Having earned a Bachelor's in Accouting last spring, Roberts is now working on his Masters of Accountancy and boasts an impressive 4.0 GPA. He has been named Academic All-Conference twice before in his career, during the 2009 and 2012 indoor seasons.

Ruble, a senior from Boone, N.C., is a four-year standout in the pole vault. His best season with the 49ers came during 2010, where he finished runner-up in the event at the indoor conference championship and was later named CoSIDA Academic All-District III. This season, the Watauga High School graduate tied his career-best mark in the pole vault, clearing 14'3.25 at the Liberty Open.

A physics/mathematics double major, Ruble has also posted a 4.0 GPA during his time at Charlotte. This is the first Academic All-Conference selection of his career.

Still, a sophomore from Harrisburg, N.C., ranks tenth all-time in school history in the indoor long jump and seventh all-time in the outdoor portion of the event. In 2011, he had his best-ever performance at the indoor conference meet, earning all-conference honors after a second place finish in the long jump.

The Hickory Ridge High School graduate collected a sixth place finish in the high jump and added a fourth place effort in the long jump at the 2012 A10 Outdoor Championship as Charlotte won the team title. During the indoor season, he posted another sixth place finish in the high jump to score points for the 49ers.

A history major, Still is the third member of the Charlotte track & field team with a perfect 4.0 GPA. He was also tabbed as Academic All-Conference during the 2012 indoor season.

Though Ruble and Still have both concluded their outdoor seasons, Roberts is still competing, having qualified for the NCAA East Prelim in the hammer throw. The East Prelim begins Thursday, May 24th in Jacksonville, Fl. and will run through the weekend.
