The Charlotte 49ers earned their eighth straight NCAA Tournament bid with their at-large selection to the 2012 NCAA Greensboro Regional, May 17-19 at the East Course; Grandover Resort.  As the 12th seed in the Greensboro Regional, Charlotte's tee times on Thursday will start at 9:15 a.m. and run in 10 minute intervals through 9:55 a.m.

In its seven previous trips, Charlotte advanced to the NCAA Championship three times. Charlotte posted back-to-back top 10 finishes in 2007 (T3rd) and 2008 (T8th).

Charlotte placed 2nd at the rain-shortened 2012 Atlantic 10 Championship, breaking a league-record string of six straight A-10 titles. The six titles is a league record for consecutive titles and matches the league record for most titles in league history.

Freshman Raoul Menard copped medalist honors at six-under par 138 in the 36-hole event. With his finish he claimed the A-10 Most Outstanding Performer and Most Outstanding Freshman awards. Menard and senior Paul Ferrier both earned all-Atlantic 10 honors.

The 49ers lineup will consist of four seniors and a freshman. Seniors Ferrier, Olafur Loftsson, Tyler Mitchell and Rafael Guerrero will be joined by Menard.

Incredible Eight-Year run

This is the 49ers 8th straight NCAA Tournament appearance. Over those 8 years, Charlotte has won six Atlantic 10 Conference championships and posted two league runner-up finishes (2006: Conference USA; 2012: Atlantic 10).

The 49ers have advanced to three NCAA Championships -- with two top 10 finishes: T3rd, 2007; T8th, 2008.

Charlotte has boasted three GCAA all-Americas over that time span, including four-time all-America Corey Nagy.

This is the first season at the helm for new coach Ryan Cabbage, who came to the 49ers after a long run as an assistant coach at Auburn. Cabbage made his head coaching debut at the Gopher Invitational, where Charlotte finished 5th in a competitive field.
