Opened in November of 2010, the 49er Golf Program's Stubblefield Golf Center is located less than 10 minutes from campus at Rocky River Golf Club in Concord, N.C. A result of the collaborative effort of the University and the City of Concord, it provides golf team members with a place to practice each and every aspect of their game, any day of the week. The facility includes an 8,500 square-foot MiniVerde bermuda grass putting green, chipping areas of both zoysia and bermuda grasses, a green side and fairway bunker and a 22,000 square-foot practice tee.

The facility, located adjacent to the 2nd tee box, has 1,000 square feet dedicated to indoor hitting bays and an indoor putting area surfaced with “One-Putt” synthetic turf, designed to simulate green conditions on the PGA tour. 49er team members also have access to the very latest in golf instruction technology including V1 swing analysis camera system and software, Flightscope launch monitor and S.A.M. Puttlab. Equipment adjustments can easily be made in the custom club repair studio which houses a Mitchell loft/lie machine, Mitchell digital putter bending machine, Mitchell gripping station as well as all of the necessary tools to perform countless other repairs.

Team fitness is a major priority for the 49er Golf Program and this commitment is demonstrated through the Stubblefield Golf Center’s fitness facility. Custom equipped for both team and individual workouts, team members have access to latest equipment from True Fitness including treadmill, stationary bike and stretch cage. A full set of dumbbells, kettlebells, medicine balls, pull-up bar, exercise tubing and TRX suspension training are also installed making it one of the finest golf fitness facilities around.

Some other highlights of the Stubblefield Golf Center include a team locker room with showers. Each team member is assigned their own full sized locker to store clubs, shoes and anything else they may need for a full practice or training session. The building is also equipped with wireless internet and various locations for studying or completing classwork making it one of the best and most complete practice facilities for collegiate golfers in the country.
