Opening in 1996, Transamerica Field hosts all the action for both Men's and Women's Soccer teams. The site has played host to NCAA Soccer Tournament games, Atlantic 10 Soccer Championships and several professional soccer teams (including the Bolton Wanderers of the English Premier League).
Transamerica Field serves as the primary venue for the 49ers home soccer matches. With several practice fields/facilities on campus, the pitch of natural grass is kept in immaculate condition for gamedays.
Along with the excellent field of play, Transamerica Field boasts several other amenities. There is an athletic training room and locker rooms for game officials below the office cuites and hospitality areas. Four main light standards with 50-light poles help illuminate the soccer field for evening training and competitions. A hospitality suite with floor to ceiling windows on two-sides is adjacent to offices and is utilized for various meetings as well as social gatherings and meals during athletic events. Full restroom facilities are available on the concourse for fans as well as a full concession stand. A heated/air conditioned Press Box is located inside the main entrance to the facilitiy at the top of the stadium seats. Located at midfield, the press box facilitates working media and game operations, with computers to run the large display scoreboard and audio equipment to operate the public address sound system. The 49ers video web streaming of soccer and track and field events originates out of the press box as do live in-game stats.
A scoreboard upgrade has enhanced the fan experience prior to the 2010 season. Along with a running clock and score, the 49ers also utilize the scoreboard to display starting lineup graphics and other short video pieces.
Located on the other side of the softball complex from Transamerica Field, the Wells Fargo Fieldhouse contains locker rooms for softball, baseball, mens soccer and womens soccer. Located just steps away from the field of competition. an auxiliary athletic training room is housed within, as well as a locker room used by officials for softball and baseball games. The Fieldhouse includes a hospitality room with floor to ceiling windows on two-sides. The hospitality room is used for various meetings and receptions in concert with events in the Phillips Athletic Complex.
