DAYTONA BEACH, FL - The Charlotte 49ers Gold Dusters danced their way to a top two finish at the 2012 NDA Collegiate Dance Championships. The Gold Dusters performed a routine that earned them second place in the Hip Hop Division I category and the innovative choreography award. 

Charlotte scored a 9.409 in the Hip Hop Division I category to finish nearly seven tenths of a point ahead of the third place finisher and just .113 behind eventual National Champion Stephen F. Austin State University. The performance not only earned the 49ers a runner-up finish but also the innovative choreography award among a grouping of twelve finalists.  

A score of 9.044 also earned the 49ers Gold Dusters a seventh place finish in the standings of the Dance Open Division I category. Charlotte advanced to finals competition via a similar scoring perfomance in the prelims.
