The Charlotte 49ers Athletic Foundation raised in excess of $102,000 for its women's athletics program at its 8th Annual Let Me Play Luncheon, Nov. 10 at the Charlotte Convention Center.  The Luncheon attracts prominent female corporate and community leaders and shares with them the importance athletic participation can play in the development of  young women.

Dr. Ruth Shaw, former chair of the UNC Charlotte Board of Trustees, chaired the event and was the featured keynote speaker while current 49ers volleyball player Sheri Davis was the student-athlete speaker.

The 395 attendees included past chairs Mary Lou Babb, Betty Chafin Rash, Pat Rodgers, Dale Halton, Felicia Hall Allen, Lisa Lewis Dubois and Samara Foxx.

Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Marsh, Edifice, OrthoCarolina and Robert and Mariam Hayes Charitable Trust sponsored the event.

The Let Me Play Luncheon is one of three major fundraisers hosted by the Athletic Foundation each year.  In the spring, the 49ers host the 49er Club Golf Outing and the Great Gold Rush Auction.
