After a college career of "bleeding green," Jesse Garber is back home, comeing to campus every day with a smiling face in a job he loves. Arriving back on campus in August 2007 as an Athletic Ticket Office Intern for three years, he earned the job of Assistant Ticket Manager, helping coordinate the ticket operations of the 49ers seven ticketed sports... men's & women's soccer, volleyball, men's & women's basketball, baseball and soon to be football.
He is also the Gameday Operations Manager for both men's soccer and baseball. Jesse also lends a hand whenever the Athletic Department hosts various Atlantic 10 Conference and NCAA post-season championships, including the past NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship events held in Charlotte in 2008 & 2011 and more recently being in charge of tickets for the Charlotte 49ers Men's Soccer team during their heralded run at the 2011 National Championship.
Jesse was born in Fairfax, Va., a suburb of Washington DC, but proudly calls Waynesville, N.C. his home from where he was raised. He moved to Charlotte in 1996 to attend UNC Charlotte, where he proudly holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, with a Major in Communications.
Passionate about many of things, Jesse is most known for starting the student lead organization, The Original Gang Green. After attending his first Charlotte 49ers Men's Basketball game, which just so happened to be the first game played inside Halton Arena, he was hooked. A sense of pride, a love, and a want for his UNC Charlotte 49ers to be on the map was born. He, along with a close knit group of friends, soon started a few trends that started to stick with the entire student section. Whether it was leading chants for the entire student section, befriending all 49ers teams and following them on road trips, coloring their hair green, or most notably sleeping on those bricks that align Halton Arena camping out for tickets, the boys of The Original Gang Green enjoyed every minute of cheering for all Charlotte 49ers Athletics.
Jesse and his wife, the former Sara Reed (a lifelong member of Niner Nation), currently reside in Charlotte and enjoy many activities, most of which is spending quality time with family and friends. He has also has been the front man/lead singer in more than his fair share of bands in the Charlotte area, currently singing for Extra Medium and doing some acoustic shows here and there. "So if you are cruising by a hot spot and see a short, bald, but strikingly handsome gentleman showing off his pipes, stop in and enjoy." He also enjoys being a spectator to area sporting events, as well as patronizing local sports restaurants to watch his Atlanta Braves, Washington Redskins, & Washington Capitals in action with friends.
