The Charlotte 49ers continue their now-eight-game home stand with a short Tuesday/Wednesday series against Tennessee Tech. Both games, at Robert and Mariam Stadium Stadium, will start at 4 p.m. Charlotte is 9-2 on the season, 9-1 at home. The 49ers have won 20 or more home games in six straight seasons. The Golden Eagles are 4-8 in 2011, 1-1 in road games.

Freshman Tyler Barnette (Hickory, N.C.), who was skipped Sunday for the rainout against UNC Asheville, will start Tuesday's game. The right-hander is 1-0, with an 0.84 ERA in two starts this season. He has eight strikeouts against three walks this season.

Redshirt junior Joe Yermal (Bel Air, Md. / McDonogh HS) makes his second start of the year, looking for his first win. He has six strikeouts and two walks in two appearances, after missing most of 2010 with an injury.

The Golden Eagles started the season 0-4, but are .500 over their last eight games. They have dropped their last two games.

Tech starts freshman lefty Jacob McWhirter, making his second start of the year in his third appearance. He has seven strikeouts and has given up only five hits versus 22 batters, with a 4.26 ERA.

Sophomore righty Nick Price will take the hill for the Golden Eagles Wednesday. Making his third start and fifth appearance of the season, he is 0-1 with a 10.32 ERA.

Charlotte freshman Justin Seager (Kannapolis, N.C. / Northwest Cabarrus HS) won this week's Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week. He had a hit at North Carolina and on Saturday against UNC Asheville, including his first career home run. He has a hit in all five games he has played to start the season and has the team's longest active hit streak on the team.
