Richard Buford is in his fourth year as a member of the Charlotte 49ers strength and conditioning coaching staff. Buford has spent the last three years as assistant strength and conditioning coach at Charlotte after spending the 2009-10 year as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach.

Coach Buford responsibilities include Women's Basketball, Baseball and Men's Soccer teams.

Buford is a graduate (2002) and four year letter winner from Saginaw Valley State University (Saginaw, MI) in Football and Track & Field. By the completion of his academic and athletic career Buford earned Conference Championships in both sports along with several individual titles and school records in Track & Field.

Upon graduation, Buford owned and operated his own Speed, Agility and Quickness training company. Working with various NCAA, AAU, High School teams through his business, he was able to gain 10 years of experience training athletes in Football, Basketball, Track & Field, Softball, Tennis and Volleyball teams.

Buford is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NCSA. Buford is also certified as a Level 1 Sports Performance Coach through USA Weightlifting.
