Lisa Hibbs has served as the Director of The Charlotte 49ers Athletic Academic Center since 1993. Hibbs has overseen the program as it has grown from having only one full-time staff member and being housed in the back of the men's locker room to it's new facility within the Miltimore-Wallis Athletics Training and Academic Center. The Athletic Academic Center now employs a professional staff of 3 full-time academic advisors, a graduate assistant and a corps of tutors and monitors, complete with study areas and computer labs. Under Hibbs leadership, the 49ers student-athletes have gained and maintained academic excellence. The student-athlete GPA has exceeded the university's general student GPA since Fall semester 1996 and 10 years later broke the 3.0 mark for the first time in the Fall 2006 semester.

Hibbs came to the Athletic Academic Center after serving as Assistant Director of Admissions at Charlotte for four years. As Assistant Director of Admissions, Hibbs was responsible for certifying student-athletes initial eligibility and transfer eligibility prior to the creation of the NCAA Initial Eligibility Clearinghouse. Prior to coming to UNC Charlotte, Hibbs served as the Coordinator of Admissions and Records at Mercy School of Nursing in Charlotte.

Hibbs graduated from Piedmont High School, Monroe, NC in 1983 and from Appalachian State in May 1986 with a B.S. in Communications/Public Relations and a minor in Marketing. She then earned a M.A. in Speech Communications from Wake Forest in December 1987. Hibbs is a native of Monroe, N.C., where she and her husband, Charlotte baseball coach Loren Hibbs, live with their daughter Lanie Rae.
