Gave up only one extra-base hit in eight innings, facing 44 batters... Lost his only decision of the year, his first career loss, after a third of an inning against Kent State on 3/10.
2012: Made seven appearances, but did not pitch in a game the 49ers won... Did not allow an earned run in four appearances... Lasted a season-long two innings at Xavier on 3/30... Five of six season hits allowed were singles... Athletic Director's List (fall).
2011: Was injured in the preseason, delaying his debut until 3/11 at home against Ball State... Made five appearances (team was 2-3 in those games)... Tossed one inning twice, allowing two hits and striking out one in each game... Did not allow a run in any of his five appearances, striking out three and walking one in three total innings... Dean's List (fall), Athletic Director's List (fall, '11).
2010: Made three appearances, all starts, finishing with a 2-0 record (team won all three games in which he appeared)... Won first career start, a pitch-count-shortened, three-inning outing at home against USC Upstate on March 31... Won career-long outing, a five-inning start (72 pitches) at home against North Carolina Central on April 21. Struck out a career-high three twice... Allowed a run and a walk in all three games... Only one of his 17 career hits allowed was for extra bases... Dean's List (Fall).
At North Mecklenburg: Played four years on the varsity squad, which advanced to the state playoffs in all four seasons, belting 12 home runs at the plate for his career, while pitching for three seasons with a 18-8 career mark on the mound... Earned All-Conference in his last three seasons... Was an A/B Honor Roll student in all four years with the Vikings.
Personal: Parents are Christy and Matt Pope... Has a younger brother, Seth, scheduled to attend Charlotte in the fall of 2012... Major is management information systems... Born January 2.
