At Charlotte: 2012 - Picked by the Seattle Sounders in the fourth round of Major League Soccer Supplemental Draft. Named to the UK Invitational All-Tournament team. Led the 49ers with 11 goals. Rex's 11 goals were most goals by a Niner since Chris Salvaggione scored 15 goals in 2008. Rex recorded four multiple goal games. Scored two goals in the 49ers victories over Stony Brook, La Salle, Rhode Island and UAB in the NCAA Tournament.Scored game-winning goals against La Salle, Rhode Island and Butler. Helped 49ers capture A-10 regular-season title and reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament. 2011 - Played in 19 games, including eight as a starter. Missed six games due to injury midway through the season. Tallied five goals and an assist for 11 points. Picked up his first goal of the season in a 2-0 win over UNC Wilmington. Scored the first two goals in a 3-0 rout of Elon. Scored a goal in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament in a 3-1 win over Furman. Tallied the game-winner in the Niners' 3-1 victory over UAB in the NCAA Second Round. 2010 - Earned second-team CoSIDA Academic All-District honors...Saw action in 16 games with starts against Elon, UAB, Memphis, Wake Forest, Campbell and South Carolina...Scored goals against Memphis and Campbell. 2009 - Named second-team TopDrawerSoccer.com Freshmen All-American...Earned Atlantic 10 All-Rookie team honors...Named to the Charlotte Nike Invitational All-Tournament team after scoring two goals in the 49ers victory over Winthrop to clinch the Nike Invitational title...Named A-10 Rookie of the Week (Sept. 21) as a result of his performance in the Nike Invitational...Named A-10 Rookie of the Week (Oct. 5) after scoring his first career game-winning goal against #3 Wake Forest...Scored both of Charlotte's goals in their 2-1 road win at Saint Joseph's...Finished the season tied for eighth in the A-10 with six goals...Also scored a goal in the 49ers win over George Washington...Recorded an assist against UNC Greensboro...Saw action in 18 games with starts against Furman, Saint Louis, La Salle, Fordham and Dayton.
At Watauga High: Played on the North Carolina ODP State team for three seasons...Earned All-Conference and All-Region honors as a junior and a senior..Broke several schools records including goals in a single season (40), hat tricks in a single season (5), goals in a single game (7), and points in a single season (98)...Played club soccer for the Greensboro Youth Soccer Academy...Younger brother of former 49ers women's soccer standout Ashley Rex.
