ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – This weekend, five Lobo volleyball players will be making their way to the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., for the U.S. Women’s National Team open tryouts.

Among the 248 other athletes from 106 colleges and universities that will be participating this weekend, Skye Gullatt, Cassie House, Hannah Johnson, Devanne Sours and Julia Warren will represent the UNM volleyball program.

“It is a great weekend of volleyball for everyone that attends,” said head UNM volleyball coach Jeff Nelson. “The top players from collegiate teams around the country are all there, and it is a weekend of training and competing that is great for our players' development.”

The tryout is for spots on the U.S. Women’s National Team and/or the U.S. Collegiate National Teams program (formerly the U.S. Women’s Senior A2 Teams). Three-time Olympic gold medalist and U.S. Olympic Hall of Famer Karch Kiraly and the U.S. Women’s National Team staff will lead the tryout process.

The selected athletes will be notified by early March, and USA Volleyball will announce the selections by the end of March once all of the roster spots are accepted and confirmed.

This isn’t the first time the Lobos have sent players to the tryout. Johnson and Chantale Riddle were both on the team last summer.

“Chantale will not be attending this weekend as she is being honored as the New Mexico Female Athlete of the Year on Sunday, but she is still in consideration for USA summer teams,” Nelson said.

There will be a live stream for fans across the world to watch the tryout that will begin on Friday at 2 p.m. MT. Click here to access the live stream. Fans can also follow on Twitter with the handle @USAVolleyball and the hashtag #USAVTryout. Instagram (@USAVball) and Facebook will also be available for updates.
