Game Notes Vs. UNLV

The Lobos lost the coin toss for the first time this season.

UNM went over the 300-yard rushing mark with four minutes gone in the second quarter. It’s the 13th 300-yard rushing game for the offense in 17 games under coach Bob Davie. The Lobos hit the 400-yard rushing mark for the second time under Davie just before halftime.

New Mexico rushed for 497 yards, the seventh most in school history and the most since 1982 when it rushed for 585 yards vs. New Mexico State. The Lobos’ 581 total yards was the most during Davie’s two-year tenure.

The Lobos’ 15-play drive for a touchdown in the second quarter that consumed 7 minutes, 54 seconds were season longs in both categories. The drive went 79 yards.

UNM had three 100-yard rushers (Kasey Carrier - 192, Cole Gautsche - 108 and Carlos Wiggins - 119).


WR Dameon Gamblin got his first career carry on the first play from scrimmage and gained 19 yards.

RB Kasey Carrier scored his fifth rushing TD of the season on a 22-yard run in the first quarter. Carrier moved past Willie Turral for sixth place on UNM’s all-time rushing list and has 2,670 yards. It was his ninth career 100-yard rushing game. He finished with 192 rushing yards, the 13th best performance in school history.

QB Cole Gautsche had two rushing touchdown in the second quarter to give him four on the season and 11 for his career. He recorded his fourth career 100-yard rushing game and second this season, finishing with 108 yards.

WR Carlos Wiggins scored on a career-long 62 run on a perfect pitch from QB Cole Gautsche. Wiggins caught a career-long 43 yard reception for a touchdown in the third quarter. He scored a career high three TDs on just five touches on offense. He finished with a career-high 119 rushing yards and a career-high 263 all-purpose yards (119 rushing, 57 receiving and 87 on kick returns).


DE Brett Bowers recorded his second career sack in the second quarter. Bowers later forced his first career fumble in the third quarter. He had a career high 2.5 tackles for loss

CB SaQwan Edwards recovered the fumble forced by Bowers. It was Edwards’ second career fumble recovery.

Freshman MLB Dakota Cox made his first career start and led the team with eight tackles.

Special Teams

K Justus Adams converted six more extra points to extend his school record to 56 in a row.
