In 1996, San José State won 3-1, and in the 1997, San José State won 2-0. Both of those matchups were opening round matches.

Lobos vs. Fresno State

Fresno State leads the series with two wins and a tie. Kit Vela is 0-1-1 against Fresno State, and 0-0-1 in Mountain West action.

The first meeting between the two programs was in 1996, when the Bulldogs won 1-0 in Irvine, California. Eight years later Fresno State won again, winning 4-2 in a meeting in Albuquerque in 2004. Last year the two teams played to a 1-1 tie. Natalie Jenks scored with 15 minutes left to tie the match up at 1-1, and UNM got the tie despite being outshot 23-11, although New Mexico outshot Fresno State on goal 7-6.
