ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Jeff Nelson's Lobos earned their sixth-consecutive win and their fifth sweep of the season over Abilene Christian (25-15, 25-23, 25-12) on Saturday afternoon in the second day of the Lobo Invitational.

New Mexico improves to 7-1 overall while the Wildcats drop to 3-4.
The Lobos face Northern Arizona at 7:30 p.m. MT to cap the Invite. The Lumberjacks (6-2) were swept by Towson in Saturday morning's opening match, 25-21, 25-21, 28-26.
Redshirt junior Chantale Riddle was the only player in double-digits for kills, tallying 13. She added three digs, a solo block and three block assists.
Freshman Julia Warren and sophomore Skye Gullatt added six kills apiece while redshirt sophomore Hannah Johnson had 33 set assists.
Miquella Lovato, the Lobos' senior Libero recorded 14 digs and is now just 10 digs shy of 1,000 for her career.
New Mexico opened the match with a 9-3 lead, and with the exception of a few runs put on by the Wildcats, controlled the set the rest of the way, 25-15. It wasn't pretty at the net for the Lobos, who only hit .156, connecting on 10 of 32 swings and committing five errors. Luckily Abilene Christian only had seven kills and hit -.129.
It was back and forth in the second with a total of 10 ties and five lead changes in the set. The Lobos struggled at the net, recording 12 kills on .053 hitting accuracy. Part of it was ACU's blocking, as it put up 4.0 total, but mostly it was errors as New Mexico had 10 in the game.
The Wildcats had the upper hand late in the set, 18-16, but the Lobos were able to work back to a 20-20 tie and trade points until 23-all before back-to-back kills by Riddle and Warren ended it, 25-23.
The Lobos responded well out of the match break and stepped up their defense to cruise to a 25-12 third-set victory. New Mexico had 7.0 team blocks and 13 digs in the game. The success on defense carried over on offense, as well, as the Lobos had 14 kills on 25 swings and committed just one error for a set hitting percentage of .520.
