NEW MEXICO: One of two fifth-year seniors who came to the program in 2010, along with offensive lineman LaMar Bratton ... a disciplined player who is looking for a breakout senior season after nagging injuries limited his play in 2013 ... has a great attitude and a strong work ethic ... the coaching staff is looking to him to provide leadership and become a role model on defense in 2014 ... provides valuable experience to a young defensive front seven ... a hard-nosed linebacker with great energy ... started to show flashes of his potential in the fall of 2011...has great football instincts.

2013 (JUNIOR): Played in seven games with two starts in 2013 but was hampered by various ailments through the course of the season ... had career highs of six tackles against Fresno State and UTEP last season ... had a career-high five solo tackles against the nationally ranked Bulldogs.

2012 (SOPHOMORE): Played in all 13 games for the Lobos on defense and special teams ... finished with 10 tackles on the season, including one tackle for loss and one forced fumble ... best game came in the season opener against Southern when he matched his career high with three tackles, including two solos ... also had two solo tackles against New Mexico State on Sept. 22.

2011 (REDSHIRT FRESHMAN): Played in seven of the team’s last eight games, both on defense and special teams ... recorded a career high three tackles against Air Force, playing double-digit snaps on defense ... made his first career tackle in the fourth quarter at TCU ... also had one kickoff return for 10 yards vs. New Mexico State.

2010: Redshirted.

HIGH SCHOOL: Three-time first team District 8-5A selection who was one of the top linebacker prospects in the nation ... listed as a three-star recruit by (No. 31 MLB) and (No. 31 ILB) ... also ranked as one of the overall top-500 players in Texas (No. 299) ... racked up 372 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 6 sacks, and 4 forced fumbles in his three-year varsity career ... also had 10 QB hurries, 8 pass break-ups and 4 interceptions ... 112 stops, 6 TFL, and 4 break-ups in 11 games last fall when he was named all-district, second team all-Collin County, and team MVP ... started 37 consecutive games, including seven playoff games for head coach Bill Howard ... helped the Pirates finish 13-3 and advance to the 2008 Texas 5A (Division 2) championship game as a junior when he was named to’s All-State Junior Team and the all-Collin Country first team...district Defensive Newcomer of the Year as a sophomore ... carries a 3.23 GPA and active as a mentor/tutor for area youth.

PERSONAL: Born May 20, 1991 in Sherman, Texas ... full name is Toby Allen Ball ... son of Mark and Lori Ball ... dad is the athletic director of Lubbock Public Schools and played college football at Kilgore JC and Tarleton State ... has an older sister, Shelby, and older brother, Cody ... majoring in Business.
