DURHAM, N.C. – The ninth-ranked Duke men’s tennis team will look to remain unbeaten at home this season, as the squad will play host to No. 18 Florida State Saturday, March 30 at 11 a.m., inside Ambler Tennis Stadium.

“It is nice to be back on our home courts, and we are excited and ready for FSU tomorrow,” said head coach Ramsey Smith. “They are a tough team that is having a very good spring season. We are looking forward to the challenge.”

The Blue Devils are coming off a 7-0 sweep at Virginia Tech Sunday in Blacksburg, Va. The tandem of senior Henrique Cunha and Raphael Hemmeler continued their dominant play in doubles by clinching the opening point for Duke for the sixth time this season, defeating then-No. 21 Andreas Bjerrehus and Amerigo Contini, 9-8 (2). In singles, Cunha remained unbeaten in the spring at 12-0, as the Jaú, Brazil native defeated Contini at the top position of the lineup, 7-5, 3-6, 6-3.

In the latest ITA rankings, Cunha was listed at No. 5 in singles, the highest ranking of the spring for the senior, while Fred Saba is also listed at a season best No. 25. Freshman Michael Redlicki is ranked 56th, while No. 73 Hemmeler and No. 89 Chris Mengel are also listed in the most recent rankings. In doubles, the dynamic duo of Cunha and Hemmeler remain in the top position, while Redilicki and sophomore Jason Tahir are 14th in the ledger. The tandem of Mengel and Saba are listed 44th.

The Seminoles come into the weekend ranked 18th in the latest ITA poll and own a 14-4 mark on the season and a 2-1 ledger in conference play. Before facing the Blue Devils, Florida State will take on N.C. State Friday afternoon in Raleigh, N.C. No. 121 Dominic Cotrone is the lone ranked player for the Seminoles in singles, while the duo of No. 45 Benjamin Lock and Andres Bucaro is the squad’s only pair ranked in doubles.

Saturday’s match-up between the Blue Devils and Seminoles will mark the 27th all-time meeting with Duke leading the series, 25-11. In the last meeting between the two programs on March 6, 2012, Duke edged Florida State, 4-3, in Tallahassee, Fla. The Blue Devils own an all-time mark of 9-1 at home against the Seminoles.
