Personal: His mother, Susan, a successful girl’s basketball and softball coach at Girls Preparatory School in Chattanooga, Tenn., was forced to give up her duties as basketball coach due to Berger’s disease and was on a waiting list for a new kidney; the mother (Kelley Boyd) of Matthew’s girlfriend (Madison Boyd) was a match, and Kelley donated her kidney to Susan in November 2014 ... attended the SABR (Society for American Baseball Research) Convention in Houston, Texas from Aug. 1-3, 2014 and presented (along with Clemson Professor Jimmy Sanderson) a poster on “Building From Within or Acquiring From Without: An Analysis of Roster Construction for Postseason MLB Teams From 2009-13;” won the USA Today Sports Award for best poster ... majoring in sports communication ... born James Matthew Crownover on March 5, 1993 in East Ridge, Tenn.
