DURHAM, N.C. - Duke field hockey senior Abby Hassinger collected a pair of honors at the close of the 2012 season, earning a nod to the ACC All-Tournament team as well as a selection to the NFHCA Division I Senior Game.
The NFHCA's annual senior game will be played November 17, 2012 at 3 p.m., at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va. The event coincides with the NCAA Final Four weekend and will include up to 38 seniors from 30 institutions.
Hassinger earned a spot on the eleven-member tournament team based on her play against Maryland in the ACC quarterfinals. 2012 ACC Champion North Carolina led all teams with four honorees, including tournament MVP Caitlin Van Sickle.
The Dauphin, Pa., native served as a consistent component in the steadfast Blue Devil defense all season and scored one goal and two assists on the year.
Hassinger played in 78 games, starting in 68 during her time as a Blue Devil. During her career, she earned three goals and seven assists. During her four year career, the defender has earned Second Team All-South Region honors (2009), ACC All-Academic honors (2009, 2011) and slots on the NFHCA National Academic Team (2009, 2010, 2011).
