DURHAM, N.C.- Three
former Blue Devil standouts will be competing in the Major League Lacrosse
(MLL) playoffs this weekend for the Long Island Lizards. CJ Costabile, Parker
McKee and Mike Ward helped the Lizards earn the No. 4 seed in the playoffs with
an 8-6 overall record.
Costabile has played in 10 games for the Lizards this
season, grabbing 20 ground balls. He also leads the Long Island defense in
goals scored with three. Costabile scored the game winning goal in a game on
June 23, against the Denver Outlaws. He will be making his first playoff
McKee will be competing in his second playoffs with the
Lizards. During the 2012 regular season, McKee competed in nine games, tallying
one assist and picking up 25 ground balls on the season. During the playoffs in
2010, McKee grabbed four ground balls in two games played.
Ward will be making his third appearance in the playoffs.
During the 2012 regular season, Ward tallied one assist in a 15-13 loss to the
Rochester Rattlers on July 7. The midfielder has grabbed seven ground balls in
nine games played on the year. In four previous playoff games, Ward has scored
one goal and picked up four ground balls.
The fourth-seeded Lizards battle the No. 1 Denver Outlaws at
1 p.m. on ESPN2 at Harvard Stadium in Cambridge, Mass. No. 2 Chesapeake
Bayhawks and the No. 3 Boston Cannons follow at 3:00 p.m. on ESPN2.
