NM State Prepares for NCAA Mountain Regional

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – New Mexico State’s Hab Rubio, Diana Hawk and Jereme Santistevan all prepare for the NCAA Mountain Regional on Friday, Nov. 14 in Albuquerque, N.M. after qualifying during the Western Athletic Conference Championship.

Seniors Rubio and Hawk led the Aggies during the WAC Championships as Rubio took home Runner of the Year and became the first NM State runner to win the WAC men’s individual cross country championship after his performance.  He claimed the title with an 8K time of 24:56.

Hawk placed fourth overall on the women’s side with a 5K time of 17:55.

Freshman runner Santistevan was named the 2014 Men’s Freshman of the Year and he placed seventh overall with a final time of 25:26.

The women finished fourth against WAC competitors while the men placed second at the Championships.

The NCAA Mountain Regional women’s 6K meet will start at 12 p.m. followed by the men’s 10K race at 1 p.m. at the UNM North Golf Course.
