As a sophomore at East Mississippi Community College, Thomas was selected to the 10-man NJCAA All-Region 23 team as well as being chosen as a first-team member of the MACJC All-State/North squad after guiding the Lions (19-8) to the 2018-19 MACJC state championship, the program’s first since the 1930s.

The 6-foot, 4-inch guard averaged 13.7 points per game and 4.6 rebounds while shooting 38 percent from 3.

He scored a career high 27 points against Shelton State on Nov. 11.

“Terryonte was obviously well coached by Billy Begley at East Mississippi. They just won a state championship,” Hooten said. “Terryonte is a proven winner and everything about him fits our program. He is tough, physical and he can shoot. The thing I love about him is that he can play multiple positions the 1 through 4 spots.

“He is versatile and can help you win in many ways.”

Thomas scored 655 career points, an average of 13.1 per game, during his two seasons at East Mississippi. He also posted 258 rebounds and 108 assists in 50 career games.

The Columbus, Mississippi native shot 45 percent from the field and 33 percent from behind the arc and 68 percent from the free-throw line for his career.
