Eight freshmen from the University of Idaho swimming and diving team were recognized by the Western Athletic Conference for their classroom success this past season.

Representing Idaho are Emily Bruneel, Vivian Crow, Sarah Hall, Erica King, Emily Kliewer, Janelle Lucas, Aileen Pannecoucke and Clothilde Peseaux.

"This class has the potential to be among the best classes that have ever competed for the Vandals," coach Mark Sowa said. "It was tremendous to watch them mature and grow in the water this year and it comes as no surprise that they bring that focus, desire, and work ethic into the classroom as well.

"They demand so much of themselves and I am truly excited to see this group continue to move this program forward and continue to embody what it means to be a Vandal student-athlete."

To earn mention on the team, a student-athlete needed to have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.2 and to have competed in at least 50 percent of the team's competitions.
