Three University of Idaho women’s golfers – the most in school history, were recognized by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association as All American scholars.
This year’s Vandals are freshman Sophie Hausmann, sophomore Kendall Grey and junior Amy Hasenoehrl. To receive All-American Scholar honors, players must have had at least a 3.5 grade point average for the previous fall and spring semesters. Eight hundred and twenty-eight players across all divisions earned All-American Scholar honors for 2015-16.
"I'm proud of the girls because this recognition has the toughest criterion of any of the various coaches association's academic awards" said coach Lisa Johnson of the 2016 Big Sky Conference Champions.
Hausmann was the individual Big Sky Conference Champion and Gray and Hasenoehrl played significant roles in the championship run. In addition to these individual awards, the women’s golf program has had perfect 1000 APR scores for the last five years.
“We compete on the golf course but also take great pride in our academic performance,” Johnson said.
