Greensboro, NC. (May 3) --- The Lady Hornets got some points on the board during the second day of the MEAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Precious Igwebuike earned a bronze medal in the Heptathlon. After a strong performance on Thursday in the first four events (100-meter hurdles, High Jump, Shot put, 200 meters) she continued to show her brilliant versatility, finishing first in the heptathlon Long Jump (5.46 meters) sixth in the heptathlon Javelin Throw (21.27 meters) and fourth in the heptathlon 800 meters (2:40.03).

Her performance qualified her for the IC4A/ECAC Championships as well as the NCAA Division 1 East Preliminary Championships.

This is Igwebuike’s first medal of her collegiate career, her third-place finish gave DSU five points to their team score.

Jolena Smith will be the first lady hornet to compete in the final day of the Championships, as she will try to medal in the Javelin Throw. Start time is set for 11:00 AM.
