Dover, Del. (Dec. 12, 2019) ---Delaware State equestrian head coach Jen Ridgely has announced that two current recruits have signed to attend the University and compete for the Hornets beginning with the 2020-21 season.
Signing to join the Hornet equestrian team next season is local Western rider Ashlyn North of Harrington, Del., and Victoria Croston, a Jumping Seat competitor from Portsmouth, R.I.
North recently placed third at the 2019 All-Quarter Horse Congress 14-18 competition. Her accomplishments also include numerous top five showings in halter at the AQHYA World Show and Congress.
“We are excited that Ashlyn is staying in the area to compete for Delaware State,” Ridgely said. “She is coming off an amazing performance at this year’s Congress, placing among the top in her field in the country. I’m certain she will be a tremendous addition to our Western team.
Croston was the 2018 Rhode Island Junior Equitation champ and place seventh at the 2019 IEA Nationals for open flat.
“Victoria is an outstanding young talent,” said Ridgely. “She is a skilled rider who has experienced a great deal of success. We expect her to continue that success with our program.”
Ridgely says she expects to sign several more riders for the 2020-21 Delaware State Equestrian newcomer class.
