Waco, Tex. (Nov. 4, 2019) --- Delaware State Equestrian Jumping Seat horse Pajama Party, aka “PJ,” has been singled out for a national honor. The National Collegiate Equestrian Association announced today that “PJ” has been selected as the October Farnam Horse of the month.
According the NCEA, the award recognizes an outstanding horse, not just one that gets high score every meet or an “MOP horse,” but one that shows heart and represents the values of its team and school.
“PJ’s” October 2019 highlights include MOP awards for the Hornets against SUNY New Paltz (score of 77), Sweet Briar College (82), & the University of Lynchburg (83).
On loan to DSU Equestrian from the Blake family in New Hampshire, “PJ” is the kind of horse every great program needs, according to Hornet coach Jennifer Ridgely.
“PJ” is the definition of a great team horse,’ said Ridgley. “Not just outstanding for his competition scores and MOP awards, he is the sweetest, most patient horse in the barn, in addition to being so good with beginner and intermediate lessons for walk-on student athletes who are new to riding.”
Ridgley added, “The opportunities he gives to student-athletes whether in practice or the competition arena are invaluable. We are so thankful that the Blake Family loans him to us for the school year and we anxiously await his arrival every fall because he is a barn favorite.”
