Greensboro, NC. (May 2) --- Delaware State competed in day 1 of the MEAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Robert Duncan entered the MEAC Championships as the conferences second best Discus thrower. He placed third in the Discus throw final with a distance of 47.18 meters.  His finish gave DSU their only six points of the night. This is Duncan’s second medal of his career, he won gold in the Discus throw last year.

Julian Brown finished sixth in the 400-meter hurdles preliminaries to qualify for the finals. The start time for the 400-meter hurdles finals will be Saturday at 3:05 PM. His sixth-place finish is an encouraging sign he entered the Championships ranked as only the eighth fastest in the event. The top eight times in the prelims make the finals, so Brown making the finals was no guarantee for the Hornets.

Second day of the Championships will begin tomorrow at 2:00 pm for the men, with the Long Jump finals. Roderick Brown will compete for DSU, he enters the competition as the conferences 12th best Long Jumper. Also, at 2:00 pm is the Shot Put. Robert Duncan will compete for the Hornets and will look to earn his second medal of the competition (third in his career).
