Norfolk, Va. (Nov. 18, 2019) --- Delaware State running back Thomas Bertrand-Hudon (r-fr.) has been honored by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference for his performance in the Hornets’ loss to Norfolk State last week.
Bertrand-Hudon was named MEAC Rookie-of-the-Week after rushing for a career-high 137 yards on 25 carries, including a 48-yard touchdown, in the contest.
The performance marked the third straight 100-yard rushing effort by the Quebec, Can., native, the first time a Hornet has accomplished the feat since Emmanual Marc in 2006.
For the season, Bertrand-Hudon has climbed to second on the team with 427 yards rushing on 98 carries (4.4 ypc). DSU leader Bryant Dallas has run for 428 yards on 116. Bertrand-Hudon is also tied for the team lead with four rushing touchdowns.
He is the second Hornet to earn MEAC Rookie-of-the-Week honors this season. Freshman quarterback Tylik Bethea was recognized by the league for his performance in DSU’s week two victory against Lincoln (Pa.) on Sep. 8
Delaware State will close out its 2019 season at home on Saturday (Sep. 23) against St. Francis (Pa.). Game time is set for 2:00 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.
