Delaware State (1-7) plays its second of three straight home games with a contest against  Coastal Carolina of the Div. I Sun Belt Conference. The Hornets notched their first victory of the season in their last outing, topping Div. III College of St. Elizabeth 90-53 on Nov. 26. John Crosby (sr.) came off the bench to lead five DSU double-figure scorers with a game-high 17 points. Crosby was 7-for-13 from the field, including 3-of-5 on three-point attempts in the contest. Ameer Bennett (jr.) recorded his first collegiate double-double, tallying 15 points and leading all players with 10 rebounds vs. CSE. Omari Peek-Green (so.) added 15 points while Lance Signh (so.) contributed 14 points, highlighted by four three-point field goals. DSU trailed 7-2 in the game’s early going before embarking on a 16-0 run to take control. Singh scored 12 points on four three-pointers during the rally. His fourth triple gave the Hornets an 18-7 lead. Delaware State led 42-22 at the break and outscored the Eagles 48-31 in the final 20 minutes. For the season, Crosby is tops on the Hornets in scoring at 18.5 points per game to also lead all MEAC players. Bennett is second on the team and 15th in the MEAC with an 11.3 point per-game average. He’s also the team leader and fourth in the league with a 7.1 per game rebound average.   

Coastal Carolina (3-4) has dropped its last two games, including an 81-56 setback to Mississippi State on Nov. 24. The Chanticleers won their previous two games, highlighted by an impressive 79-57 victory over Utah on Nov. 21. Keishawn Brewton leads five double-figure scorers on the team in scoring at 14.7 points per game. He also has a team-high 20 three-point field goals. Devante Jones is second on the Chants with a 13.5 point per game average. Tyrel Gumbs-Frater is third on the team in scoring at 12.6 points per game and second on the squad with 17 three-pointers.     


HORNETS vs. CCU / Sun Belt   
This will be the first meeting between the Hornets and Chanticleers. DSU will also be facing a current member of the Sun Belt Conference since a 95-64 loss to Troy (Ala.) during the 2017-18 season.
