Daytona Beach, Fla. (May 18. 2019) --- Delaware State second baseman John Weglarz (so.;) and designated hitter Miguel Rivera (so.; Dover, Del.) have been honored by their Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference for their play in this week’s conference championship tournament.

Weglarz and Rivera were each named to the MEAC All-Tournament Team for their roles in leading the Hornets to a 2-2 tournament record.

Weglarz was 11-for-18 (.611) with a triple, double, four RBI and three runs scored in the Hornets’ four tournament games to end the season with a .348 batting average. He was three-for-three in DSU’s opening round loss to eventual champion Florida A&M and had four hits, including a triple and two RBI in the Hornets’ 6-5 victory over Coppin State in an elimination contest. The Bear, Del., native had two hits in each of the last two tournament games.   

Rivera had two home runs and six RBI in the tournament. He was two-for-five with two homers and three RBI in the Coppin State tournament contest and recorded a triple and two runs batted in vs. Florida A&M in the opening round. The Dover, Del., product ended the season with a team-high .353 batting average.
