SPARTANBURG, S.C. –UNC Greensboro’s women’s volleyball senior setter Allison Penner was named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week, announced by the conference Wednesday.

Penner averaged 10.50 assists per set, 1.38 kills per set, 2.00 digs per set and 0.50 blocks per set in two matches last week and nearly recorded a triple-double with nine kills, 48 assists and 11 digs against Mercer last Friday.

This season, Penner is averaging 7.67 assists per set and 2.28 digs per set and is averaging 9.08 assists per set and 2.47 digs per set in conference play.

The Aurora, Neb., native has recorded 4,096 assists, 1,031 digs, 268 kills and 171 total blocks in her career.  Penner recorded her 1,000th career dig at Furman and 4,000th career assist at Wofford earlier this month.

The Spartans host Western Carolina Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Fleming Gymnasium to finish a three-match homestand.
