GREENSBORO, N.C. - UNCG women's tennis continues its fall schedule into the month of October, competing in this weekend's ITA Carolina Regionals in Winston-Salem, Thursday through Monday. The Wake Forest-hosted tournament will display some of the top players in the country, as athletes from programs across the states of North and South Carolina will be in attendance.

• The doubles pairing of Erika Barquero and Hanna Giddings advanced to the third round of last year's Carolina Regionals, 

• Giddings and current senior Sophia Adams both earned singles wins in last year's Bracket B, with the former getting as far as the quarterfinals 


• The Spartan women proved themselves as the top team in September's Lynn Stevens Invitational, earning a combined 19 match wins out of a possible 27

• Between singles and doubles play Barquero went a perfect 6-0 during the Lynn Stevens Invitational in Conway, and collected four match wins during the Spartans' fall opener at Elon

• Junior Brianna Gomez was a perfect 3-0 in singles play at Conway last month, while redshirt-freshman Hanna Giddings collected five wins between singles and doubles play

• Gomez tallied a team-high 11 singles wins during the previous spring season, while Barquero and Sophia Adams recorded 10 apiece


• This weekend's competition will highlight some of the top athletes in the country, as seven of the top-20 and five of the top-eight singles players in the country compete for teams in the Carolina region

• At the end of the most recent spring season, three of the top-five and five of the top-25 teams in the country had campuses located in North or South Carolina
