BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - UNCG women's soccer records its highest goal differential of the past eight years after dropping Gardner-Webb 6-0 on the road this Sunday.

The Spartans controlled the match from start to finish, picking up their first goal of the night in the 17th minute. Sprinting down the right side of the 18 yard box, defender Sophie Stewart-Hobbs lobbed a shot over the Gardner-Webb keeper to drop in her first goal of the year just inside the left post.

Stewart-Hobbs would have a hand in her team's second tally of the afternoon just four minutes later, creating a turnover in the attacking half of the field. The junior delivered a through ball to teammate Cienna Rideout who slid in her first goal of the season in the bottom left corner.

UNCG capitalized on a corner kick in the 44th minute to go ahead by three goals before the break. With the Bulldog keeper punching out the Spartans' initial delivery, the resulting rebound fell to the foot of Rachel Rouse, whose strike deflected off a GWU defender and the crossbar before crossing the goalline.

The fourth tally of the night would come off another UNCG corner opportunity, with sophomore defender Kayla Campbell rising above the GWU defense to head in a cross from Gabi Santora just five minutes into the second half.

Julia Brown made it a five-goal differential during the 79th, after putting away a cross from Isabel Pearce, while Grace Regal's spot kick in the 87th gave the visiting Spartans a 6-0 victory.

Three Things To Know
