SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNC Greensboro’s women’s golf’s Hailey Joy has been named to the All-Southern Conference Freshman Team, the conference announced.
This season, Joy – the lone freshman for UNCG -- played in 25 rounds with a stroke average just north of 78. In her debut at the Col. Wollenberg Ram Classic, the Reidsville, N.C., native finished tied for 55th place after completing the tournament with a one-over 73 in the third round.
Joy’s best finish of the fall would come at the Palmetto Intercollegiate when she ended up tied for 34th place at 10-over 226.
She began the spring finishing the Idle Hour Collegiate tied for 45th place. Additionally, Joy placed tied for 67th at the team’s jointly hosted tournament with Wake Forest, the Bryan National Collegiate, where she turned in the best round of her freshman season with an even-par 72 in the third round.
Joy finished her freshman season last week at the SoCon Championship in 29th place.
