HILTON HEAD, S.C. – UNC Greensboro women’s golf (308) is currently in fifth place after one round of play at the 2019 Southern Conference Championship taking place this week at Moss Creek Golf Club. The Spartans (+20) trail ETSU by five strokes for fourth place while No. 26 Furman currently leads the tournament at eight-over 296.

The second round will take place tomorrow morning and live stats will be available via Golfstat.com

Senior Natalia Asensio (76) led the Spartans in the first round of play, as she carded a four-over 76 with four bogeys on the day. She is currently tied for 13th place. 

Senior Lexi Kershaw (77) and sophomore Tara Bettle (77) finished the first round at five-over 77 and are amongst five players tied for 15th place.

Kershaw began her final SoCon Championship with a birdie on the first hole. It was one of two birdies on the day for the Winston-Salem, N.C., native. Bettle, meanwhile, birdied on Hole 10.

Sophomore Keri Kenkel (78) completed the first round at six-over 78 and is currently one of four golfers tied for 20th place through 18 holes of play.

Freshman Hailey Joy (81) finished the first round at nine-over 81. Joy recorded one birdie on the day on Hole 16.
