Assistant Coach

Second Season

No stranger to the Old Dominion sailing program, Mark Zagol returns to the Monarchs for his second year as an assistant coach after an impressive collegiate career in the late 90's. As a coach, Zagol has played a privital role in the success of the Women’s team, especially in their victory at last year’s ICSA Women’s North American Championship. Zagol helped the Monarchs capture the Team Race and Dinghy Championships during his junior year, and followed that up with a second place finish at the single-handed national championships in Long Beach, CA during his senior season. He also posted a victory in the A division of the America Trophy and a second place A division finish at the dinghy nationals in his final year. Zagol was a two-time All-American while at Old Dominion and in 1998-99 he was one of four finalists nominated for College Sailor of the Year. Mark graduated with a degree in Business Administration in 1999. He remains active in the sailing community, competing in numerous events throughout the area. Zagol currently resides in Norfolk.
