Lady Monarchs Drop 5-2 Match Against #19 VCU

NORFOLK, Va. -- The 73rd ranked Lady Monarchs dropped a 5-2 decision to the #19 VCU Rams, winning a pair of singles matches in Norfolk. Juniors Nadine Fahoum, ranked 18th in the nation, and Joanna Dobrowolska won at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, for the two ODU points.

Dobrowolska won at No. 2, dropping VCU's Ana Bara in three sets. After falling 1-6 in the first, the ODU junior ran off a pair of 6-2 victories. She improves to 13-10 this season.

Fahoum continues her stellar season with a straight set victory over Josefin Hjertquist, 7-5, 6-2. The top twenty player now has 31 wins this season.

The Rams swept the doubles matches and the rest of the singles play for the 5-2 win to hand Old Dominion their first loss in league play. ODU falls to 11-6 overall, 2-1 in the CAA.
