Fourth Ranked Maryland Defeats ODU, 19-7

COLLEGE PARK, MD--Fourth ranked Maryland (5-3) defeated the Lady Monarchs of Old Dominion, 19-7 in a women's lacrosse match Saturday afternoon. Melody Shotwell(Fairfax Statin, VA.) led the Lady Monarchs (2-2) with three goals and Ashley Stanwick (Annapolis, MD.)added two goals.

Trailing, 5-3 with 10:15 left in the first half, ODU midfielder Melody Shotwell Converted a free-position shot to pull the Lady Monarchs to within a goal. However, the Terps then scored four straight goals over the next nine minutes to take a 9-4 lead until Shotwell added her third goal of the afternoon with 22 seconds left in the half to cut the Terps lead to 9-5 for halftime.

In the second half Ashley Stanwick scored with 4:30 left and Sarah Lautenbach (West Chester, PA.) scored with 36 seconds to play to close out the scoring for ODU.

ODU returns to action on Saturday, March 25 when they host Temple at 1 p.m. in Foreman Field.
