NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion women's rowing team has released its 2010-11 schedule, which includes the Lady Monarchs hosting the Head of the Lafayette and the University of Miami on its home waters of the Lafayette River.

The ODU women's rowing schedule kicks off for the second-straight year with the Lady Monarchs hosting the Head of the Lafayette on October 30th. Last season, ODU claimed the top three positions in the race with the varsity boat crossing the finish line first, followed by the Frosh "A" shell, and the Frosh "B" boat right behind in third.

November 5th-7th will see the Lady Monarchs head to Chattanooga, Tennessee to row in the Head of the Hooch Regatta. The Head of the Hooch will mark ODU's second appearance in the Regatta. Last season, the Novice 8+ group had a first place showing, beating out Clemson by nearly six seconds. Additionally, the Frosh 4+ claimed fourth place in their field.

The fall slate concluded on November 14th when ODU competes in the Rivanna Romp, which features a highly competitive and seasoned field, including host and 2010 national champion, Virginia.

The Lady Monarchs gear up for the spring portion of its schedule in March first with their annual Spring Break Training Trip. This year's trip will take the ODU women rowers to Austin, Texas from March 5th-12th where they will conclude their training by facing the University of Texas.

The women's rowing team returns from spring break to the Occoquan Sprints on March 27th, a race which saw the Lady Monarchs advance to the Grand Final for the first time in the program's young history. The Varsity 8 finished with a fourth place showing and the Junior Varsity boat added a win in the second-level finals, recording the fourth fastest time of the event, and won the consolation race.

Mark your calendars for April 2nd. Not only will the Lady Monarchs host the University of Miami, but it will also mark the opening of the home to ODU women's rowing program with the dedication of the state-of-the-art ODU Rowing Center located in Lakewood Park. The spring continues with the Knecht Cup on April 8th-10th in Cherry Hill, New Jersey and a meet with Colgate and host Bucknell in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania on April 15th-16th.

The Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championships get underway on April 23rd in Fairfax, Virginia and the season concludes at the prestigious Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia on May 12th-14th. The Dad Vail Regatta is the largest collegiate regatta in the United States, with over 100 colleges and Universities from the U.S. and Canada. Last season, ODU's Frosh/Novice 4 boat reached the semifinals and the JV 8 was just one spot away from reaching the finals.
